I trained at the College for Counselling and Psychotherapy in North London and graduated in 2002, as an integrative psychotherapist. Since then I run a private psychotherapy practice, furthered by training in the field of Gestalt therapy, relationship and psycho sexual training. I am based in both North London and Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire.
In addition to my private practice I have held management positions in the healthcare field, such as the Samaritans. Most recently, I have held the position as CEO at The Counselling Foundation since 2012. The not for profit organisation delivers over 20,000 open ended counselling sessions a year to people across Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire and employs over a 150 staff and counsellors. The Counselling Foundation is a major provider of counselling to clinical commissioning groups within NHS, expanding services from Herts into Luton. The organisation has a thriving training college, providing BACP accredited counsellor training to over 200 students each year, and in addition over 200 people attend short term psycho education to improve self development. At the Foundation Robert has been responsible for extensive change management programmes, commercial negotiations and implementing new contracts with both the NHS and local authorities.
Robert Cuming formerly worked at Barclays Corporate Banking for six years and in managerial positions within national UK charities including The Princes Trust where he managed the Business Programme in London and then nationally. Recently I worked at Samaritans in a clinical oversight role.
As an accredited Integrative Psychotherapist Robert Cuming is a member of UKCP and BACP professional bodies and follows their ethical framework. He also holds a BSc in International Management from Bath University
I work from counselling rooms in Berkhamsted Hp4, St Albans Al3 and London w2 and principally after 5pm. I can offer sessions via Skype which is particularly useful for clients who may travel regularly with work commitments and seek that flexibility.
